The NFL on Monday announced the return of the Madden NFL 22 x The HBCU Tournament with 16 finalist teams heading for Los Angeles to compete against one another in Super Bowl LVI week.

The students from every one of 47 Historically Black Colleges and Universities SWAC, MEAC, SIAC and CIAA conferences are able to register until Dec. 3. for the December. 5 qualifying single-elimination event.

"We are delighted to host this event for HBCU students, and provide an opportunity to once in a lifetime experience of coming in Los Angeles during Super Bowl LVI Week," Natara Holloway who is the vice-president of strategy for football at the NFL and a news release. "We want to expand the League's efforts for creating inclusive opportunities for the next generation of footballers by partnering with companies such as EA offering not just an opportunity for young athletes to play but also the opportunity to get a better understanding of the business of football by gaining practical knowledge and shadowing experiences."

The 16 finalists will have the chance to visit the NFL's West Coast studios in Los Angeles and will participate during an "experienceship" by spending time with EA workers from various departments.

"We are so privileged to be working with NFL in this vital project to capture the joy of gaming among students from HBCU," GCN CMO Chris Kindt stated. "We believe that our team with deep roots in esports , and gaming will put on an amazing tournament capped off by the thrill of competing during Super Bowl LVI."
