This readme file details some important information about the Deep Freeze Enterprise 7
release that you have just downloaded.

Deep Freeze Enterprise consists of:

- Configuration Administrator
- Enterprise Console
- Deep Freeze Loadin

The Configuration Administrator is a tool used to create customized Deep Freeze
installation programs pre-configured with passwords, schedules, and other options.

Deep Freeze Enterprise Console and Deep Freeze Loadin offer ways to control Deep
Freeze on multiple workstations from a central console. The Enterprise Console
controls Deep Freeze on remote workstations.

The Deep Freeze Loadin allows the main functionality of Deep Freeze to be controlled
from Faronics Core. Faronics Core is a fully scalable enterprise level console that
supports the monitoring and management of multiple workstations from a central
location. Faronics Core controls not only Deep Freeze, but also other enterprise
level products from Faronics.

This file references some information contained in the Deep Freeze Enterprise and
Faronics Core users guides. It is recommended that these user guides be downloaded
and kept handy for reference.

The Faronics Core and Deep Freeze Enterprise user guides are available in the Faronics
Content Library at

The Deep Freeze Update Procedure is available in the Faronics Content Library at

ABOUT THIS RELEASE

This release of Deep Freeze incorporates an exciting new feature, the ability to be
controlled by the Faronics Core in addition to the Enterprise Console found in
previous versions of Deep Freeze.

Faronics Core provides a scalable enterprise platform for the management of multiple
Faronics Products and provides the ability to manage a larger number of workstations
from a single console than the previously available Enterprise Console. At this time
the major functions of Deep Freeze can be controlled via Faronics Core however there
are some specific features that will still require the use of the Enterprise Console
to be managed.

Faronics recommends the use of Faronics Core for most tasks in any environment with
more than 1000 workstations as Faronics Core is able to provide a more scalable
platform than the legacy Enterprise Console. Users with less than 1000 workstations
are still encouraged to use Faronics Core provided that the appropriate hardware to
host an installation of Faronics Core exists.

UPGDRADING FROM PREVIOUS VERSIONS

Instructions on upgrading to a newer version of Deep Freeze can be found in the Deep
Freeze Enterprise (and Server Enterprise) Update Procedure available in the Faronics

proceed with the installation and please contact technical support for assistance in
determining what steps need to be taken.

Support can be reached at 800-943-6422 x 1 from 7am - 5pm Pacific Time.

In general, the upgrade process should follow the process below:

1) Update Deep Freeze Configuration Administrator

5) Deploy Core Agent to workstations

INSTALLING FARONICS CORE

Specific steps on the installation of Faronics Core can be found in the Faronics Core
user guide available in the Faronics Content Library at

After installing Faronics Core, the Core Agent will need to be deployed to workstations
